| zestiest-of-zillas-nissan-prices-gt-r-nismo-at-151585 Posted: 03 Mar 2014 08:55 AM PST In describing the Nissan GT-R, it is hard to avoid using superlatives, and the new GT-R NISMO is the mostest superlativest of all GT-Rs, ever. And now, the latest GT-R NISMO can claim to be far and away the most expensive Nissan ever sold in the U.S., at an eye-watering $151,585. That's a healthy $34,280 more than the next priciest GT-R model, the Track edition, which starts at $117,305. With 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque from its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6, the GT-R NISMO is the most powerful of the four different GT-R models Nissan is offering for 2015. At 7 minutes 8.679 seconds, its lap time around Germany's famous Nürburgring racetrack is not only the quickest of any GT-R ever tested there, it's the best time of any volume production car—period. In addition to boasting an additional 55 hp and 18 lb-ft of torque compared to "regular" GT-Rs, the NISMO gets retuned Bilstein shocks with three modes, stiffer springs, stickier tires, sturdier wheel hubs, and other chassis fortifications. Styling changes include a revised front bumper, underbody aero modifications, and a serious rear spoiler, all meant to generate an additional 220 pounds of downforce at 185 mph compared to the standard 2015 GT-R. Unique red outlining on the body and wider, six-spoke wheels serve to help keen GT-R fans quickly identify the NISMO model.
Want one? You're gonna have to wait until July 31, 2014, when the GT-R NISMO is scheduled to go on sale at select Nissan dealers in the U.S. Start saving now.
| GoGreenRide: Black Car Service At Taxi Prices - Business Insider Posted: 26 Feb 2014 12:22 PM PST ![]() Alex Davies / Business Insider My GoGreenRide car was waiting outside for me at exactly 8:58 a.m., as promised. At 8:39 the next morning, I got an update, saying he would actually be there at 8:58. At 8:58, he showed up, and I got another email, plus a text message, telling me he was downstairs. On the brief drive into Manhattan, my driver, Merrick, offered me a bottle of Voss water and chatted politely. He reminded me there was WiFi in the car and that I could charge my phone or watch some television, or Netflix (through my account). I turned on France 24, although the quality went in and out. The bill came out to $21.21, about what I would have paid a yellow cab for the same trip. (GoGreenRide covered the cost.) With the caveats that it's quite possible Merrick knew he was chauffeuring a reporter doing a story on his employer, and that I wasn't paying the bill, it was one of the most pleasant rides I've had in a while. The JetBlue ModelThe idea behind GoGreenRide, founder and CEO Yamandou Alexander told me over breakfast, was to create "JetBlue on wheels." He wanted apply the popular airline's model of providing quality service at a low price to the taxi industry. In a space dominated by Uber and populated with competitors, GoGreenRide's unusual business model is based on four priorities. In order of importance, they are reliability, service, pricing, and environmental friendliness. GoGreenRide customers must become members first, at no charge. They can order a car ahead of time, like a traditional black car, or call one immediately via the app. The company owns its cars and hires drivers as salaried employees. The 40 drivers now on staff work 50 to 60 hours a week and earn between $10 and $14/hour, plus tips, Alexander said. Each wears the same uniform and is licensed by the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission. Uber drivers are also licensed, but are not employees of the company. They work when they want and must provide their own cars. Because GoGreenRide drivers share cars (each a Prius V hybrid, covering the environmental angle), the company uses software employed by airlines to efficiently schedule shifts in its fleet of around 20 vehicles. That ensures there are car on the road at non-peak times as well as during rush hour. All that allows GoGreenRide, which launched in 2012, to offer reliable rides with good service, Alexander said. Prices are closer to those of a yellow cab than a black car or Uber ride, and riders are informed of their fare before their trip. The cost of my ride was on par with what I would have paid a yellow cab, and I didn't have to wander the street looking for an available car. Plus, I could charge my phone, watch a television channel of my choosing, and suck up some free WiFi. Rapid GrowthI asked Alexander if potential customers who are used to black cars might be turned off by the idea of riding in a bright green Prius. "It's just a learning curve," he said. In any case, membership has been climbing at a steady rate: 72% month over month, Alexander said. The company has about 5,000 members, plus some corporate accounts, and revenue is up 42% month over month. At this point, the company isn't profitable, but that's normal, Alexander said, adding that he expects to start breaking even in October or November. To do that, the next step is putting more cars on the road — a top request from current members, who can't always get a ride when they want one. By the end of 2014, GoGreenRide hopes to have 70 cars on the road. If they follow the rule that 3.68 drivers per car is the ideal ratio, that means hiring about 220 more drivers. Based on a single ride, GoGreenRide provides a great service at a surprising price. If it can maintain both and put enough cars on the road to make membership worthwhile, I'd gladly become a real member. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2015 Jeep Renegade Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, and Photos ... Posted: 03 Mar 2014 09:06 PM PST With Italian roots, fuel-efficient powertrains, and a brilliant, activity-influenced design that somehow manages to be cute and ruggedly handsome—plus, let's not forget, the vaunted Trail Rated badge that means it'll live up to what it suggests, the 2015 Jeep Renegade may very well be the best effort yet to come from the marriage of Fiat and Chrysler. At first glance, it's hard to find fault with the packaging and design, inside or out. You won't find the kind of It masterfully skirts the line between retro and modern on the outside, offering up rugged good looks and classic Jeep proportions and cues, while mixing in enough fresh details—like the utilitarian 'X' themes that distinguish the taillamps and roof and are carried through inside. As for the cabin, we see its design as mixing nostalgia and sophistication—with just enough playfulness. Jeep calls the look Tek-Tonic, and it's stocked with soft-touch surfaces contrasting with 'clamp fastener' anodized accents, grab handles, and plenty of bins. Are there accessories? Yes indeed—from a cold-air kit to a canoe carrier and a tent. Although the Renegade does share some underpinnings with the Fiat 500L, it's quite different in the way it's packaged and set up. The seating position (front and back) is different in the Renegade, and the steering wheel has actually been moved to provide the right (somewhat more upright) driving position. Although we've only briefly crawled around the Renegade's cabin at this point, we think that the seating placement and rather low (for a utility model) beltline should afford an airy feel inside and just enough space for four adults. And overhead, there's a huge (available) My Sky roof-panel system. Jeep is splicing the Renegade into the Jeep lineup just below the Patriot, and it's careful to note that it's not replacing the Patriot. There's not all that much of a difference in size, though. At an overall length of 166.6 inches, a width of 71.0 inches, and a height of 66.5 inches, the Renegade is only about seven inches shorter in length than the Patriot—although it's actually slightly wider and taller, overall. Cargo volume is 18.5 cubic feet with the rear seatback up. Fold it down to the quite low cargo floor and you get 50.8 cubic feet. Although there will be a wider range of engines and transmissions—including diesel models—in international versions of the Renegade, the U.S. will for 2015 have a choice between two engine/transmission combinations that are familiar from the current Fiat and Chrysler lineup: a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (160 horsepower, 184 pound-feet of torque) and six-speed manual gearbox, or a 2.4-liter 'TigerShark' four (184 hp, 177 lb-ft) with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Both will run on regular-grade gasoline. The Renegade has a layout that's car-like (and car-based) but certainly not lacking in toughness or capability. While it has MacPherson struts with a full front cradle in front, in back, the Renegade gets a Chapman-style independent suspension that replaces the 500L's twist-beam layout, as well as a stability control system that's tuned for the different modes of SelecTrac—prepping it for top performance when the conditions turn muddy or snowy. Koni frequency selective dampers should help ride quality on coarse and washboard surfaces without hurting handling. And despite additions like stronger front frame rails, the new suspension, and other structural improvements, the Renegade is virtually the same weight as the 500L (around 3,250 pounds). All models get strong stopping power from four-wheel vented disc brakes, and the anti-lock system has a rough-road detection feature. Two four-wheel drive systems will be offered on the Renegade. Active Drive 1 includes an all-wheel drive system that will send power to the rear wheels when it detects slip in front—or for more subtle intervention in the name of stability (it can send up to 100 percent to the front or rear wheels as needed). Meanwhile Active Drive 2—in the Trailhawk model—adds a 20:1 crawl ratio, higher ground clearance, hill descent control, skid plates, a full-size spare, and impressive approach and departure angles. Trailhawks have a ground clearance of nine inches, and it has up to 8.1 inches of wheel articulation. There's no skimping on water-fording ability either—its limit is 19 inches. Trailhawk models have a shorter 4.334 final-drive ratio that enables its crawl (versus 3.734 for the other 2.4-liter models). There's no word yet on fuel economy figures—although Jeep is already boasting that the Renegade has a 0.36 coefficient of drag, which is quite good compared to other small crossovers with such upright designs. Safety-wise, the Renegade will offer the first collision warning system in a Jeep; it's also the first Jeep model with lane departure warning. Blind spot monitoring is also available. The Renegade includes seven nairbags, including a driver's knee airbag, seat-mounted side pelvic-thorax airbags, and full-length side-curtain bags. Available features will include and a Uconnect Access system that will provide 911 emergency services, a remote-access phone app, and on-demand wifi hot-spot capability. Jeep says that the system's seven-inch, fully configurable instrument cluster is the largest of its type in the segment. The top Uconnect system will now read text messages and send dictated messages. SiriusXM Travel Link provides real-time traffic updates, local fuel prices, and weather conditions, plus other info services. At this point there's no word on pricing and trim levels other than those top models; we'll update this page with more as soon as those details are announced. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Chidambaram on reduction in excise duty on cars in the 2014 budget. Since the current government's term is coming to an end though, this is only an interim budget, which means the price revisions will be effective only till 30 June, 2014. If you are planning to sign the dotted line soon, keep yourself updated with the revised prices on cars here. As soon as we here of car manufacturers on revised prices of cars in their portfolio, we will post it here. Price announcements – Ford Ford India has revised prices of all its models. The value-for-money Figo gets price cuts of up to Rs 23,399. The Classic prices have been slashed by Rs 24,056 and the EcoSport has received price cuts in the same range of about Rs 26,000. Since the EcoSport has waiting periods extending beyond the June end interim excise duty reduction date, it may not benefit from this price revision and as a result the gap between its rivals, the Terrano and Duster has reduced. The slow selling Fiesta gets a Rs 32,961 off its sticker price and the Endeavour gets a whooping Rs 1.06 lakh cheaper. Chevrolet Chevrolet has dropped prices on all its models in the range of Rs 12,000 to Rs 49,000. The Spark's prices now start at Rs 3.49 lakh and the Beat petrol base variant is priced at Rs 3.92 lakh. The Sail U-VA gets price cuts in the range of Rs 15,000-23,000 and the Sail sedan between Rs 16,000-24,000. The Enjoy that's already an excellent value for money proposition is cheaper by Rs 28,000 for the base petrol variant and goes up to Rs 40,000 for the to end diesel. Chevrolet's flagship model, Cruze gets Rs 49,000 off its sticker price. Maruti India's highest selling car manufacturer is next in line to announce price cuts across all its models in the range of Rs8,000 to Rs 31,000. The Celerio is now about Rs 14,000 cheaper starting at Rs 3.76 lakh. The AMT equipped Celerio is priced at Rs 4.14 lakh. The Celerio AMT is already selling more than the manual. Now with it priced just above Rs 4 lakh, there could be no stopping an AMT revolution. The Swift range starts from Rs 4.42 lakh for the base petrol and goes up to Rs 6.7 lakh for the top-end diesel. Maruti's most affordable hatchback, the Alto 800 is priced between Rs 2.42 lakh and Rs 3.52 lakh. The Wagon R starts from Rs 3.52 lakh and the Stingray range starts from Rs 4.04 lakh. The hot-selling Swift Dzire now starts from Rs 4.85 lakh while the Ertiga MPV base variant is priced at Rs 5.80 lakh. The SX4 range now starts at Rs 7.15 lakh pricing it on par with the recently launched Honda City. Honda Honda has dropped prices on all its models. With the new prices in effect, the Honda Brio's prices now start at Rs 3.99 lakh. The top-end Brio will come under Rs 6 lakh. The Amaze petrol will now start at Rs 4.99 lakh and the base diesel Amaze is priced at Rs 5.97 lakh. The already brilliantly priced City gets more affordable - the base petrol is priced at Rs 7.19 lakh, Rs 23,000 cheaper than its launch price and it goes up to Rs 10.89 lakh for the top-end diesel, down from Rs 11.10 lakh before the revisions. The new CR-V too gets cheaper by about Rs 45,000. It is now priced at Rs 20.25 lakh for the 2WD manual going up to Rs 24.36 lakh for the AWD automatic. Honda hasn't passed on the full benefits of the excise duty cuts and it is understandable since the Amaze, City and CR-V are all doing well in their segment. The Brio isn't, so it receives the best reduction in prices in the Honda portfolio. Mahindra Mahindra is the latest manufacturer to reduce prices on its cars. The rate cuts are in the range of Rs 13,000 to Rs 49,000 from the Verito Vibe all the way up to the XUV 500. This will benefit the SUV manufacturer as most of its models were hit by the excise hikes last March. Mahindra has also reduced prices of the SsangYong Rexton by up to Rs 92,000 for the top-end model. Hyundai Hyundai has announced a drop in prices from Rs 10,000 for the Eon to Rs 1.35 lakh for the Santa Fe. As you recall, the new Santa Fe was launched at the Auto Expo recently. Since the new price will be effective from 18 February, those who booked the flagship model in the past few weeks must be ruing their luck. Volkswagen Volkwagens will be cheaper too. The German carmaker has released a statement with reduced prices of the Polo, Vento and Jetta in the range of Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,000. Nissan Nissan has dropped prices on all its models by 4-6 percent passing on the entire benefit to customers. The price difference is in the range of Rs 13,000 to Rs 49,000 across the portfolio. This will benefit Nissan considerably to narrow the gap between the Terrano and EcoSport. And since waiting periods on the former are running into 6-8 months, the time is right for Nissan to cash in. The already economical Micra Active too becomes an even better value proposition. Here are the starting prices for each model:
Audi Audi has reduced prices on its locally assembled cars including the Audi A4, Q5 and Q7 SUV in the range of Rs 72,000 to Rs 3.82 lakh depending on the model and variant.
| Car prices in Dubai are too high, says DED surveyAutomotive - Zawya Posted: 25 Feb 2014 08:43 PM PST
A car consumer poll by the Department of Economic Development in 2013 showed that a "significant number of customers - 51 per cent" aren't pleased with the price of purchase. The 2013 survey included feedback from 890 customers dealing with 10 leading car dealers in Dubai, according to the Department of Economic Development . "A significant number of buyers are from the middle income group and they are looking for high quality and cutting edge technology along with competitive prices," said Omar Bushahab, chief executive officer of commercial compliance and consumer protection (CCCP) at DED .Bushahab added: "Some of the car agencies are addressing these demands appropriately. And the rating shows they are the ones that get the best outcomes." Yet, 23.7 per cent of consumers are generally dissatisfied with car agencies in Dubai. The survey also showed a top concern for 41.3 per cent of consumers in the car sector is lack of clarity in policies on warranty and services. The survey says 84 per cent of customers go back to their dealer for after-sales service. The major attraction that dealers hold for 78 per cent of customers is the transparency in billing - as 74.9 per cent rated service quality as good. © 7Days 2014 © Copyright Zawya.
